Chapter 70
吾言甚易知，甚易行，天下莫能知，莫能行。言有宗，事有君。夫唯无知，是以不我知。知我者希，则我者贵，是以圣人被褐怀玉。
My words are very easy to understand and very easy to practice, yet no one in the world can understand or practice them. My words have an ancestor; my deeds have a master. Because people do not understand this, they do not understand me. Those who understand me are few; those who follow me are honored. Therefore the sage wears coarse cloth but carries jade within.

我的话很容易理解，很容易实行，但天下人却没有能理解的，没有能实行的。我的言论有宗旨，我的行事有根据。正因为人们不了解这些，所以不理解我。理解我的人少，效法我的人就显得尊贵了。因此圣人外穿粗布衣服，却在内心怀揣着美玉。
