Chapter 18
大道废，有仁义；慧智出，有大伪；六亲不和，有孝慈；国家昏乱，有忠臣。
When the great Tao is abandoned, benevolence and righteousness appear. When wisdom and cleverness emerge, great hypocrisy arises. When family relations are not harmonious, filial piety and parental love appear. When the country falls into chaos, loyal ministers emerge.

大道被废弃了，才会出现仁义；聪明智慧出现了，才会有严重的虚伪；家庭关系不和睦了，才会有孝慈的提倡；国家陷入混乱了，才会出现忠臣。
