Chapter 79
和大怨，必有余怨，安可以为善？是以圣人执左契，而不责于人。有德司契，无德司彻。天道无亲，常与善人。
After a great resentment is reconciled, some resentment must linger — how can this be considered good? Therefore the sage holds the left side of the contract and does not demand from others. The virtuous attend to their obligations; the virtueless attend to the demands of others. The way of heaven has no favorites; it always accompanies the good person.

调解大的怨恨，必然还有残余的怨恨，这怎么能算是好的办法呢？因此圣人掌握借据的存根，但不向人索债。有德的人只管自己应尽的义务，没有德的人只知道向别人索取。天道没有偏爱，总是帮助善良的人。
